JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Two people are caught on camera breaking through a business wall then taking a cash register and merchandise.
This is not the first time the Jackson gas station has been hit by burglars.
Surveillance video shows two burglars breaking into the Exxon gas station on Watkins Drive.
They got away with cash registers, several cartons of cigarettes and a few hundred dollars.
Their point of entry … a gaping hole smashed into the back of the building.
“They came in through the back door and I just got surprised on it; you know cutting the wall and stuff, it’s just so scary,” said Hema Patel, a nearby business owner.
Once they’re in, you can see one person smash the glass where the store keeps deli meat.
Then the two go around to where the cash register is and while staying close to the floor they grab it and go.
Patel works at the Subway connected to the Exxon.
She says she warned the owner of the Exxon to get more security cameras and an alarm because of recent break-ins.
“I think it’s important because so many crime going on right now,” said Patel. “Get better cameras try to be more active you know and do as much as you can do on the safety side you know.”
