JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The Mississippi State Department of Health conducted inspections of the food booths at the State Fair.
Heath officials did a walk through to make sure food vendors are serving and preparing food properly.
“When you’re visiting the fair in the next couple of weeks, look for the little red Mississippi,” said Anne Hogue, an environmentalist for MSDH. “This indicates that someone has been permitted. If you see this, it should be safe to eat there. However, if you see something that makes you uncomfortable, you probably don’t want to eat there, and you want to let the state health department know they may have a problem.”
Hogue demonstrated a sample inspection to show what they look for as they check each booth.
The fair opens at 5 p.m. The fair will be open until October 16.
