Opening night of the Mississippi State Fair

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi State Fair is in town and that means fun for the whole family.

“One of the highlights of October,” said Mandy Reeves, a fairgoer.

“Food, games, rides.”

Fall is here and the gates at the Mississippi State Fair are open.

WJTV’s Lauren Fluker: “Why do you like coming to the fair.”

“Because it’s fun.”

“It’s so fun and they have lots of stuff there.”

The mile long midway isn’t the only thing that attracts thousands of visitors…it’s the deep fried and oversized goodness

“The food!”

“Definitely going to get a cinnamon roll.”

“I’m going to get my funnel cake, and my polish sausage, and my roasted corn.”

“I have to get her taffy every year, its good.”

Milan McCoy says the fair is an annual outing but today it’s a celebration her youngest son is turning one.

“Sharing memories, making memories, this is something we’re going to do every year,” said Milan McCoy, a fairgoer.
