Traffic stop in Morton reveals 66 pounds of cocaine

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A joint effort between two law enforcement agencies yielded 66 pounds of cocaine.

Officers made a traffic stop on Interstate 20 in Morton according to Sheriff Victor Mason with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Mason says officers were suspicious after occupants of the vehicle gave conflicting stories.

A Hinds County K-9 made officers aware of the vehicle.

The drugs were discovered in the back of the vehicle.

Ernest Ramirez Garcia, 27, of Los Angeles, CA and Richard Cuevas, 34, of Perris, CA are both facing trafficking of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

They are currently booked into the Scott County Jail.

The Morton Police Department and Hinds County Sheriff Office contributed to the bust.
