LORMAN, Miss. (WJTV) – A feast for the eyes awaits football fans at Alcorn this season.
The Braves may still be hitting their stride, but in one way, they’ve never looked better.
In the hyper-competitive world of college football Alcorn State has a new edge that sets them ahead of every other HBCU team.
What’s 65 feet wide, 25 feet tall and high definition all over.
A monolithic masterpiece is now fully operational on a rise above one end zone of Jack Spinks – Marino Casem Stadium.
Marcus Ward is the Executive Director of the Alcorn State University Foundation.
He proudly proclaims, “We are very excited about the largest scoreboard, video board in HBCU football.”
A wall of state of the art speakers insures this board sounds as good as it looks, and it looks fantastic!
Marcus explains, “High definition play back, high pixel resolution. It’s fully capable for today’s video and sound. It can play video. It can play in game. It can replay. We’ve also got the ability to do team introductions on here now.”
A division of Busby Companies, based out of Laurel, Mississippi built the big board.
The ASU foundation picked up the million dollar price tag. They want to grow the Alcorn brand and bring in new fans. Enhancing the game day experience is good way to do that.
According to Marcus, “So we know it’s important to invest in our facilities, to not only reward the student athletes who are out here, sweat, blood and tears for our university, but also to make sure we make our fans feel good about the investment they are making in Alcorn State University.”
Gameday on the Rez will never be the same.
The Braves next home game is Saturday, October 15, 2016.
That’s homecoming and Alcorn will be hosting Texas Southern.
