VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) – City of Vicksburg employees will find their next paychecks a little fatter.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen has approved implementing employee pay raises beginning Oct. 12, which is the start of the city’s next pay period.
Under the pay raise plan, raises for all non-civil service employees are based on a sliding scale from 3.5 to 2.5 percent based in an employee’s rate of pay, with employees on the low end of the city’s pay scale – $8.26 to $8.50 an hour, or up to $17,680 per year – getting a 3.5 percent increase. Division heads at the top of the pay scale of $35,000 or more, will get a 2.5 percent raise.
The raises are funded with $400,000 in surplus funds from fiscal 2014 plus an additional $25,000 from the 2015 surplus.
