Attorney General Hood hands over $34 million to Treasury

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Close to $34,000,000 was delivered to state’s Treasury department Monday.

A large portion of the $33,951,305 is from Sandoz Inc.; a pharmaceutical manufacturer that apparently “defrauded the state by manipulating the prices it charged for its drugs to the state Medicaid program” according to a press release by the state of Mississippi’s Attorney General’s office.

Attorney General Jim Hood hopes the state’s legislature uses the money for state departments that received budget cuts.

More than $3,000,000,000 has been regained from companies under Attorney General Hood’s time in office.
