Clerk talks about stopping robbers at Mac’s Fresh Market

RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – A cashier goes through some scary moments in a Ridgeland grocery store during a robbery Tuesday.

This all happened at the Mac’s Fresh Market around 9:00 a.m.

We’re told two men entered the store, one of them reached over to the cashier’s register and grabbed about a hundred dollars out and tried to leave.

That’s when we’re told the cashier took action and tried to stop the robber from getting away.

She told us what was going through her head at that time.

“I was scared. All I could think about at that time was let his arm go because I got a family out here and when I felt like my life flashed before me, I let go,” said the clerk.

“I think it’s wonderful what they did. It’s always a danger; you know you have that possibility that you might get hurt but I don’t have a problem with their actions what so ever,” said Lt. Brian Myers of the Ridgeland Police Department.

Police say one of the men was held down by store employees until police got there, while the other suspect was arrested when he tried to get away.

Denzel Watson and Francesco McKnight have been charged with strong armed robbery and resisting arrest.
