JPD warns residents of jury duty phone scam

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A warning has been issued to Hinds County residents about a scam.

Jackson Police said a caller has been contacting residents that they needed to pay a fine because they’ve missed jury duty. JPD said the caller tells residents that a warrant house been issued for their arrest for failure to report for jury duty.

The caller asks residents to put money on a card at Kroger to pay the bond amount. The number begins with the area code 601 and the digits 908.

Police said this is a scam. Call authorities if you have received a call similar to this description.
