Coroner: 15-year-old girl dies in accident on Natchez Trace Parkway

UPDATE: 10/11/2016 3:25pm The coroner identified the victim as 15-year-old Zia Richardson. She was a passenger in the Volvo, according to park rangers.

UPDATE: 10/11/2016 11:50am The Natchez Trace Parkway is still closed in the vicinity of the crash site.

UPDATE: 10/11/2016 10:11am The coroner has confirmed that a 15-year-old girl died in the accident. Authorities said the Natchez Trace will be shut down for the next few hours.

UPDATE: 10/11/2016 8:25am  Drivers are being advised that southbound traffic should exit onto Highway 49.

Original Story:

CLINTON, Mississippi (WJTV) – Mark Jones with the Clinton Police Department is confirming that police are on the scene of a crash on the Natchez Trace Parkway near mile marker 92, just past Medgar Evers this morning.

Emergency responders from several agencies are responding to the scene.  There is no information about possible injuries or the number of vehicles that may be involved.

Traffic delays have not been specified at this time.

WTJV is headed to the scene.  We will provide the latest information as soon as it is available.
