2 arrested, 1 wanted in connection with several robberies

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson Police arrested two people in connection with several robberies that have happened in the Metro area. They are still looking for a third person.

Police charged 18-year-old Montra Wallace and 17-year-old James Devonta Hawkins with an armed robbery of an individual, auto theft, attempted armed robbery of a business, and three counts of armed robbery.

Officers are still looking for 18-year-old J’Quantis Brown. He is wanted for attempted armed robbery of a business and two counts of armed robbery of a business. Police said Brown should be considered armed and dangerous.

JPD said these three teens are allegedly responsible for several violent robberies that have happened from February to October.

Wallace and Hawkins are also charged in connection with the carjacking that happened at the Canton Mart Apartments last week. A woman was robbed and held at gunpoint. Hinds County deputies believe her white Nissan Altima was used that same night in the robbery at a Dollar General in Terry.

Below is a list of the crimes police believe Wallace, Brown and Hawkins are connected to:

  • February 28, 2016, Attempted Armed Robbery: Dixon’s Seafood, 1553 W. Northside Dr. Hawkins, Wallace and Brown all identified and charged with attempted armed robbery of a business. No injuries reported.
  • February 28, 2016, Armed Robbery of a Business: Family Dollar, 4747 Clinton Blvd.Hawkins, Wallace and Brown all identified and charged with armed robbery of a business. No injuries reported.
  • September 19, 2016, Armed Robbery of a Business: Family Dollar. 3115 Capitol St. Hawkins, Wallace and Brown all identified and charged with armed Robbery of a business. No injuries reported.
  • September 23, 2016, Armed Robbery of a Business: Family Dollar, 2019 Raymond Rd. Hawkins and Wallace identified and charged with armed robbery of a business. No injuries reported.
  • October 5, 2016, Armed Robbery of an Individual/Auto Theft: 4911 Old Canton Rd. Victim carjacked for a white Nissan Altima at gunpoint in the parking lot. Minor injuries were reported. Hawkins and Wallace identified and charged with Armed Robbery of an Individual and auto theft. The vehicle was recovered on October 8th. Hawkins was arrested on Friday, October 7th for this incident.

Police said Wednesday morning, the Jackson/Hinds S.W.A.T. team executed an arrest and search warrant at a home on Elfin Ave. Wallace was arrested without incident.

Officers said the investigation is ongoing with several other incidents. JPD said more charges and arrests are possible.
