FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WJTV) – A national retailer announces its payment system may have been compromised.
Vera Bradley was notified about “a potential data security issue related to our retail store network” according to a press release on its website in September 2016.
The company says it alerted “payment card networks” about the potential breach and began investigating.
Cards used during Thursday, July 25, 2016 and Saturday, September 23, 2016 at Vera Bradley retail locations may have been compromised; the company also says not all cards used were affected during this time.
However, cards used on the Vera Bradley website were not affected.
The investigation shows there was “unauthorized access to Vera Bradley’s payment processing system”.
Vera Bradley says it has the blocked program’s access.
