Ridgeland High School holds concert, remembers student killed in crash

RIDGELAND, MS (WJTV) – Hearts were heavy inside during Ridgeland High School’s  fall concert, as many mourned the loss of Zia Richardson.

Richardson was 15 years-old and attended Ridgeland High. Her life was cut short after she and her brother were involved in a head-on collision on the Natchez Trace Pkwy, Tuesday morning.

She sang in the school choir, and many students and parents were in tears during the concert performance including Richardson’s mother Tina.

“It’s just overwhelming to know just how many people loved Zia,” said Tina. “She was always happy, always positive; she loved everybody. She loved her family and her friends.”

Zia’s funeral will be held on Saturday, October 15, at the Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, MS. Service starts at 2 p.m.
