RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Several people are in the hospital after a one-car accident Sunday afternoon.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to US 49 south and Star Road after a Ford Explorer blew a tire according to Corporal Eric Henry with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Corporal Henry says that driver lost control, flipping the car after a blowout of one of the tires on the vehicle.
Five people were in the car – two adults and three children.
The passenger in front, a woman, was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with serious injuries, according to police.
The other passengers were also taken to UMMC with injuries.
