JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation made multiple sex-trafficking arrests in a cross-country sting operation.
The purpose of this operation was to focus “on recovering underage victims of prostitution and drawing the public’s attention to the problem of sex trafficking at home and abroad.”
No juveniles were rescued in this reoccurring operation; everyone arrested was over the age of 18 according to the FBI.
Twenty-eight people were arrested in Mississippi; eight were from Jackson, eight in Ridgeland and 12 in Southaven.
Of those 28, 22 were prostitutes, and five were pimps.
Also, one narcotics arrest was made as well.
The sting operation happened Thursday, October 13-14, 2016.
A FBI representative says they lured people to places in those areas to make the arrests.
Across the nation, 82 minors were recovered and 239 “pimps and their associates” were brought into custody.
