WJTV – Nick Fitzgerald’s first season as the starting quarterback for Mississippi State has been inconsistent with some flashes of potential.
In his first start against South Carolina, he set a program record for rushing yards in a game by a quarterback with 195 yards on the ground. He had a highlight reel hurdle into the end zone against BYU to give the Bulldogs a lead in overtime.
But so far this season, Fitzgerald has thrown for under 200 yards in three of his five starts. He’s only achieved a completion percentage greater than 50 percent twice. Dan Mullen wants to see his quarterback improve that percentage, which sits at 55.2 percent.
Click the video above what specifically Mullen is looking for as signs of improvement in Fitzgerald as a passer that will show him he’s making more consistent, unspectacular plays.
