JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Mississippi’s Institutions of Higher Learning said rumors that the president of Jackson State University has been fired are not true.
WJTV has received numerous calls about Dr. Carolyn Meyers’ employment status with JSU.
IHL officials tell WJTV the president has not been fired and she has not resigned. Her contract runs through June 30, 2019.
Dr. Meyers became the president of JSU in 2011.
Dr. Meyers received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Howard University. She then attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned a master’s in mechanical engineering and a doctorate in chemical engineering. She also completed post-doctoral work at Harvard University.
