St. Dominic Shop Pink Kickoff Luncheon today at the Outlets of Mississippi

JACKSON, Mississippi (WJTV) – WJTV’s Melanie Christopher will emcee the St. Dominic’s Shop Pink Kickoff Luncheon today at the Outlets of Mississippi in Jackson.

Speakers include Sister Dorothea who serves as the Associate Executive Director of St. Dominic’s Health Services Foundation and Vaniessa Cousin, songwriter and vocalist who is a three-time breast cancer survivor.  Cousin served as the 2015 “Shop Pink Woman of the Year.”

The 2016 “Shop Pink Woman of the Year” is Aimee Burrow.  She is Director of Volunteer Services at St. Dominic’s, where she first starting working as a nurse in 1987.

The featured speaker of today’s luncheon will be Pat Smith, a minister, author, entrepreneur, philanthropist, mother of five, and wife to former NFL player Emmitt Smith.

Smith serves as the CEO of Pat Smith Enterprises, CEO of Treasure You, and is the Co-Founder of Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities.

Pat was the first African American woman to win the Miss Virginia USA title and the first runner up of the 1994 Miss USA Pageant.  While preparing for the Miss Virginia competition Smith lost her mother to breast cancer, inspiring her to start the non-profit group Treasure You.

Smith’s first book, “Second Chances,” became a best-seller this year.  She is scheduled to address the Shop Pink Kickoff Luncheon at approximately 1:00pm.
