MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) — A gun was confiscated from a student at Madison Central High School Thursday.
Madison Police said they went to the school around 8:35 a.m. after they were notified that a 15-year-old student had a gun in his backpack.
Officers went to the school and were able to recover the gun, which was a .22 caliber Colt 1991 semi-automatic pistol, according to Madison Police.
The gun was not loaded, and the student didn’t have any ammunition. He was removed from the school, police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed the student had not made threats towards individuals or fellow students.
He was charged with possession of a firearm by a minor on school property. He was taken to the Yazoo County Detention Center pending his appearance in Madison County Youth Court.
