JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith was in court Tuesday morning.

Judge Larry Roberts is overseeing the circuit court cases against Smith after Hinds County judges decided to recuse themselves.
Smiths attorney is asking for the court to dismiss the indictments against his client. Judge Roberts denied that request.

D.A. Smith is accused of aiding Christopher Butler who was a criminal defendant facing embezzlement charges.

Smith was accused of hindering prosecution.

He is asking the courts to allow a special prosecutor to handle the case, because he said the Attorney General’s office is targeting him.
