Dogwood Trail fire under control, Red Cross helping residents

JACKSON, Mississippi (WJTV) – A fire reported in Jackson this morning is under control.

Jackson Fire Department Office of Fire Investigations Division Chief Cleotha Sanders says firefighters were on the scene at 5302 Dogwood Trail at approximately 12:27am.

Residents of the home had gotten out before firefighters arrived on the scene.  Firefighters conducted a search of the home and found no one else inside.  The fire was under control by 1:05am.

Division Chief Sanders says the home is uninhabitable at this time.  The American Red Cross is working to help the displaced family find a residence.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
