Former Williams Sonoma, Inc. employee charged with theft of intellectual property

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — An Ohio man has been charged with multiple counts of theft of intellectual property.

Timothy Wayne Stover, 53, of Akron, Ohio, was arrested Friday, October 21, 2016 by the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit investigators in Desoto County.

He was booked into the Desoto County Detention Center and later released.

Stover is being charged with 19 counts of theft of intellectual property.

A Desoto County grand jury indicted Stover in July 2016 for thefts “which allegedly occurred in 2014.

The indictment accuses Stover of taking confidential intellectual property that he was not authorized to take from Williams Sonoma, Inc., when he left the company to work for a competitor.”

Stover faces up to 95 years in prison and a $190,000 fine if convicted.
