JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A shocking start to Wednesday morning for a Jackson woman.
She says her car started moving on its own and slammed into her neighbor’s house across the street.
“That’s really scary. Really scary.”
Bobbie Wilson says she is still shaken from an incident early Wednesday morning outside of her Ridgeland Drive home in Jackson.
“When I went to get in the car, just started rolling back, the door not be down and the car proceeded to roll backwards across the street into the neighbor’s mailbox and house. I’m really nervous because I feel like I could’ve been up under that car,” said Wilson.
The keys were not in the ignition and the car was in park.
Two people were inside the home across the street when it happened.
Thankfully, they were not hurt either.
“I’m thankful first that no one got hurt. That is a blessing in itself. Like I said we can always fix the house. This is material things we will get it fixed it’s just a blessing nobody got hurt.”
“She saw me when I fell. I got up and tried to chase the car to stop it and then I fell again at the end of the driveway. She saw me so she came over and assisted me up and drove the car back across the street,” said Wilson.
Wilson tells us she did not have the parking brake on at the time, but she says there have been problems with it moving on flat surfaces before. Still, she says she had no idea something like this could happen though.
“I opened the door, and it just knocked me down. I’m really thankful that the car got the worst end of it, not me,” said Wilson.
Wilson says she did reach out to the dealership about the problem and they said they would send someone out to pick up the car and inspect it for her.
