Schools hold tornado drill for Fall Severe Weather Preparedness Week

FLORENCE, Miss. (WJTV) — Many schools across Mississippi participated in a statewide tornado drill Thursday.

The drill was a part of Fall Severe Weather Preparedness Week.

WJTV went to Steen’s Creek Elementary as students there went under the drill.

At 9:15 a.m., the principal, Catie Gunn, made the announcement and students lined the hallways with their hands over their heads. The school has about 575 Kindergarten through 2nd Graders

Rankin County Emergency Management Specialist, Brian Grantham, was there helping his daughter and classmates get prepared.
