JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Homecoming weekend for Jackson State University students and Downtown Jackson was full of festivities.
A parade kicked off Saturday morning with a bang as bands, cheerleaders, dancers and many others as they made their way down Prentiss Street.
Hundreds of students and alumni lined the streets.
The talk on campus is the resignation of JSU President Dr. Carolyn Meyers but people we spoke with say the future is bright for Jackson State.
“We’re looking for a leader to continue what Dr. Meyers has started and other presidents is to move these students forward and their lives,” said Joanne Brown, a Jackson State University Alumna.
In a letter Dr. Meyers states her resignation will be effective Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
