MHP: Driver identified in this morning’s fatal Copiah-Lincoln crash

UPDATE: 11/03/2016 10:10am Corporal Eric D. Henry of the MHP says that the driver in this morning’s crash has been identified as 38-year-old Howard S. McClendon of Crystal Springs.

COPIAH COUNTY, Mississippi (WJTV) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) is investigating a fatal accident that occurred this morning near the county line between Copiah and Lincoln counties.

Corporal Eric D. Henry of the MHP says that troopers responded at approximately 5:05am to a one-car crash on I-55 northbound.  He says that the preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a Chevrolet SUV was travelling northbound when the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road, colliding with trees.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and killed.

MHP is trying to identify the driver.

No additional information is available as the MHP continues its investigation.
