Suspect wanted in Gaddis Street homicide investigation in custody

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The suspect wanted after two women were gunned down while there were in a car is in custody.

Jackson Police said U.S. Marshals arrested 21-year-old Marsalis Townsend Friday. He was wanted for aggravated assault and murder.

Police went to Gaddis Street Thursday afternoon to respond to a shooting. They found two women at the location who had been injured.

18-year-old Kristen Bennett died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. The other victim was shot in the arm.

Officers don’t believe the shooting happened on Gaddis Street. During the investigation, it was learned that victims were traveling in the area when someone fired multiple shots into the vehicle.They stopped on Gaddis Street.

Officers found shell casings on Dunbar Street, which is near the area. Investigators think the two scenes are connected.
