UPDATE: Jackson Police investigating officer-involved shooting

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Jackson Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting in South Jackson.

The shooting happened at Valley Street and Utica Street according to a press release by the Jackson Police Department.

JPD responded to the area around 3:36 p.m. about “a nude white male occupying a white Toyota vehicle.”

JPD also says the “subject was attempting to lure kids into his vehicle in this area.”

The driver attempted to drive off when officers approached the car at a high speed, almost hitting an officer.

One of the responding officers fired his weapon at the car several times.

The driver, Charles Albert Lung, 55 was hit multiple times; he is currently at UMMC.

His condition is unknown at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The officer will be placed on administrative leave with pay during the investigation.

The investigations’ results will be given to the Hinds County Grand Jury for further review.
