JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The man police shot Sunday after authorities said he tried to run an officer over with his car is still in the hospital.
55-year-old Charles Albert Lung was naked, according to police, when they responded to the scene Sunday.
Officers went to Valley Street near Utica Avenue around 3:36 p.m when they received a call about a nude man in a white Toyota who was trying to lure kids into his car.
Police went to the area and found Lung matching the caller’s description. They said when Lung noticed that police were on the scene, he put the car in reverse and sped off, almost hitting an officer.
One of the responding officers started firing shots at Lung’s car. He was hit multiple times.
AMR took Lung to the hospital. Jackson Police said on Monday that Lung was still in the hospital.
The officer who fired shots is being placed on administrative leave with pay. JPD said the case would go to the Hinds County Grand Jury.
