JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A Picayune man is sentenced for child exploitation.
Attorney General Jim Hood said 40-year-old David Owens pleaded guilty Friday to one count each of possession, transmission and production of child pornography.
He was arrested in April at his home. Investigators received a tip that revealed Owens had uploaded four images to the internet that depicted young girls under 10 performing graphic sexual acts. Also, he was accused of sexually assaulting a girl under 10 for a period of several months and documented the sexual abuse through images he saved to his personal computer.
Pearl River County Circuit Court Judge Prentiss G. Harrell sentenced Owens to serve 40 years in prison with 10 of those years suspended, leaving 30 years to serve, for each count followed by 10 years of post-release supervision for each count. Those three sentences are to run concurrently to each other leaving Owens a total of 30 years to serve behind bars followed by 10 years of post-release supervision.
