JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The man police shot after they had said he tried to hit an officer with his car is out of the hospital.

55-year-old Charles Lung is facing an attempted aggravated assault charge on a police officer.

On November 6, officers went to Valley Street near Utica Avenue around 3:36 p.m when they received a call about a nude man in a white Toyota who was trying to lure kids into his car.

Police went to the area and found Lung matching the caller’s description. They said when Lung noticed that police were on the scene, he put the car in reverse and sped off, almost hitting an officer.

One of the responding officers started firing shots at Lung’s car. He was hit multiple times.

AMR took Lung to the hospital.

JPD said Monday that Lung had been released from the hospital.

The officer who fired shots is being placed on administrative leave with pay. JPD said the case would go to the Hinds County Grand Jury.
