HAZLEHURST, Miss. (WJTV) — Hazlehurst Police arrested a man Tuesday morning for breaking into a car in the Walmart parking lot.

Police said they received a call around 6:47 a.m. about a suspicious man walking around the parking lot. The witness told police they thought they heard a window break.

Officers went to the scene and found Sylvester Tart inside a 1999 Honda Accord. When the officer tried to approach Tart, he took off running to a nearby apartment complex.

Law enforcement officers arrested him.

Police said Tart unhooked the radio system in the car to get inside the glove box. They also found burglary tools.

Tart was on probation for a robbery that happened in Sunflower, Hazlehurst Police said.
