JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The Jackson Police Department is celebrating the opening of a new precinct office.
There was an open house Wednesday morning for the new Precinct 4 on Parkway Drive.
The building has several work spaces, an evidence room, and space for meetings. The officers will also keep their patrol cars parked there.
JPD Chief Lee Vance said there is money set aside for the department to pay for these buildings, and the new location isn’t costing anymore than the old one.
Vance said it was important for the department to save money, but also have a safe and comfortable working space. Even though Precinct 4 has moved from Fondren, people living there will not see a decrease in response time or service, Vance said.
