JPS Scrabble Tournament

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Jackson Public Schools held its annual Open Doors Scrabble Tournament Thursday.

It was held at the JSU Mississippi E-Center on Raymond Road. About 100 students in the JPS Gifted Education Program got the chance to compete. The top three players were selected from, 4th 5th and 6th-grade students from each school in the district.

Although Scrabble is a board game, educators said it’s a great instructional tool.

The game helps students learn words and definitions to improve their memory and enhance their language and thinking skills
