UPDATE: 11/18/2016 5:27am Pearl Police Captain McGarity says an 18-wheeler travelling on US 49 north took the flyover and appears to have lost control of the truck. the driver got out with what are believed to be minor injuries. There was a passenger in the back inthe truck’s sleeper section. The passenger was entrapped because of the way the truck landed after the crash. The passenger had to be cut out of the vehicle but is expected to be ok. Both have been hospitalized for evaluation.
The 49 north flyover is expected to remain closed because of diesel fuel that spilled onto the roadway. Cargo that was on the truck is being picked up.

PEARL, Mississippi (WJTV) All northbound lanes of traffic on the US 49 ramp to I 20 westbound are blocked as emergency responders work to clear the scene of a crash this morning.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) says the traffic impact of this incident is “high,” and indicates that delays of up to three hours may be expected.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
There is no word yet on whether there are any injuries. Police and firefighters are on the scene.
