Morton Football Player Dies in Car Crash

PELAHATCHIE, Miss. (WJTV) – A Morton High School football player dies in an early morning crash, Sunday.

According to Rankin County Coroner David Ruth, 18-year-old Lane Bailey was driving eastbound on I-20 in Pelahatchie when he wrecked.

Ruth says the vehicle rolled multiple times; Bailey was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

The coroner says it doesn’t appear Bailey did anything wrong to cause the wreck.

The crash is under investigation.

According to the Morton High School Facebook page, Bailey is described as a dynamic student, athlete, and friend.
