UPDATE: The Jackson Fire Department responded to the grass fire that was on the side of the interstate.
Cleotha Sanders of JFD said crews arrived on the scene around 1:55 p.m. Crews were able to put the fire out round 2: 31 p.m. He said the fire was possibly cause by the improper disposal of smoking materials.
Hinds County is still under a burn ban.
