Man jailed after found with drugs in motel room, car

ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) –A man is jailed after deputies in Adams County found drugs in a motel room and in the car he was driving. He was also charged because officials found him with a minor who had run away from the juvenile detention center.

Police said 47-year-old Roderick Hoggatt charged with possession of each controlled substance, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Authorities were lead to Hoggatt after they were looking for a 14-year-old who ran away from the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center.

Deputies said he was wearing a monitoring device that showed he was riding in a car with Hoggatt in the area of the Terrace Motel. Law enforcement officers went to that located and found the minor and Hoggatt. The juvenile was removed from the vehicle and taken to ADJDC.

Hoggatt was arrested on an outstanding warrant with ACSO for Simple Assault by Fear. When deputies searched the vehicle, they found a large amount of cocaine, methamphetamine, hydrocodone and a handgun that came back stolen from Terrebonne Parish, LA.

They received a search warrant for the motel room and recovered more drugs.

Authorities said Hoggatt is a convicted felon in at least four states.
