JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — American Medical Response is bringing families together for Thanksgiving.
Ten patients at nursing homes across the Metro were able to go home for the day because of a project called “Home for the Holiday.”
AMR donated roundtrip ambulance or wheelchair van transportation for selected nursing home patients. AMR took them from the nursing home to their family home.
The nursing homes selected the participating residents earlier this month. The patients are between 61 and 98 years old. Ten nursing homes participated; they selected one patient per facility for the project.
Stan Alford, the operations manager for AMR, said, “Anyone who has been away from home on Thanksgiving knows the longing to be with family that special day. With this project, AMR helps a few elders go home for that great tradition.”
