Breaking: Richland Apartment complex evacuated due to a gas smell

RICHLAND, Miss. (WJTV) – The Richland Police Chief confirms that dispatch got a call from a resident at Chapel Ridge Apartments regarding a gas smell.

It happened at 100 Chapelridge Drive around 7:20 PM Sunday.

Officers were sent to the location and evacuated residents.

After searching the area, officers didn’t smell anything and determined there was no leak. Everyone has been able to return to their homes.

The scene was cleared in about 30 minutes.
Chief James says they were taking precautionary measures because about a month ago, a gas line was hit in this area.
