Nearly 40 acres burn in Simpson County brush fire

SIMPSON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — Firefighters has to put out a brush fire Monday morning in Simpson County

According to the Simpson Emergency Management Agency, strong winds broke a power line in the area and sparked a fire.

We’re told the fire spread to the woods and the high winds made the flames grow.

About 35 to 40 acres burned, officials said.

No building caught fire, and no one was hurt.

The fire is now contained. The Mississippi Forestry Commission and Magee firefighters helped with the fire.
