After-school activities, community events canceled due to severe weather threat

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Several Metro area school districts are canceling after-school activities.

The cancellations are due to the possible threat of severe weather in the area.

All Jackson Public Schools after-school activities, programs and athletic events have been cancelled today, Monday, November 28, 2016.

In addition to JPS, The Hinds County School District and the Rankin County School District canceled activities.

Belhaven University canceled adult and graduate classes at Belhaven’s Lefleur Campus. A power is out in building due to the inclement weather. Classes will resume there on Tuesday.

Jackson State University also canceled evening classes for Monday night.

The Metro area is under a tornado watch until 9 p.m.

Also, the Terry Christmas Parade was scheduled for Monday night. It has been canceled and rescheduled for Thursday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m.
