Preliminary reports show EF-1 tornado ripped through Scott County

SCOTT COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) — Survey teams from the National Weather Service in Jackson are out examining damage from Tuesday’s storm.

WJTV met up with a surveyor in Scott County who was assessing the damage there.

He tells us that preliminary reports indicate that an EF-1 tornado hit Scott County.

He also said that so far, no injuries have been reported.

Our crews in the area spotted tree damage on Munn Road. They’ve also seen a shed that was destroyed by a fallen tree. They’ve noticed one home with roof damage as well.

Surveyors are expected to assess damage in Rankin, Clay, Oktibbeha, Leake, Winston, and Noxubee counties.
