Resident says storm looked like MSU’s quarterback running through Ole Miss line

(WJTV) — Residents are cleaning up after severe weather ripped through several counties Tuesday and throughout the night.

One resident compared the storm to a football game.

Eddie Ellingburg, a Rankin County resident, told WJTV’s Malary Pullen that “it looked like Fitzgerald running through the Ole Miss line with all the trees laying over.”

Nick Fitzgerald is the quarterback for Mississippi State University. The Bulldogs recently defeated Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.  The sophomore quarterback rushed for a single-game Mississippi State record for 258 yards with two touchdowns. MSU pounded the Rebels for a 55-20 win.

Ellingburg lives on Munn Road in the Leesburg community.  The storm that moved from Rankin to Scott counties took down his shed and several trees in his yard.

Preliminary reports from the National Weather Service in Jackson said that six tornadoes possibly touched down in Mississippi Monday. They believe the one in Scott County, was an EF-1 twister.

No injuries have been reported.
