JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — It’s the Season of Giving and Mississippi Blood Services is asking for you to give the gift of life.
They are running low on blood donations.
Mississippi Blood Services is in critical need of O Negative blood. Only 7 percent of the population carries that blood type.
“We service over 40 hospitals in the state including University of Mississippi Medical Center, which is our trauma center, as well as the children’s hospital. So we have a constant demand,” said Emily Austin of MS Blood Services.
The holiday season is normally one of the slowest times for blood donations. If you’re interested in donating, Mississippi Blood services is open on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m and Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
