JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Several Christmas parades were scheduled for this weekend, but are being postponed due to the threat of severe weather.
The City of Ridgeland has canceled it’s parade and said it will not be rescheduled. It was originally scheduled to be held December 3 at 2:00 p.m. The City of Madison has also canceled its parade. Madison officials said they are looking at other options.
Below is a list of rescheduled dates:
- City of Byram: The annual Byram Christmas Parade has been postponed until Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10:00 am. The route will remain the same.
- City of Clinton: Due to the pending severe weather for Saturday, December 3, the Clinton Christmas parade has been postponed until Saturday, December 10 at 10 AM. Watch for more updates at on the city’s website.
- City of Jackson: The City of Jackson’s annual Christmas Parade has been rescheduled from Saturday, Dec. 3, to Dec. 10 at noon. The event is co-sponsored by The Salvation Army. The theme is “Christmas in the Capital.” The city’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is still scheduled for Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
- City of Vicksburg: Because of expected inclement weather on Saturday, December 3, 2016, The 2016 Downtown Christmas Parade of Lights has been rescheduled to Saturday, December 10, 2016. The parade will begin at 5:00 p.m.
