UPDATE: BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) – All lanes are back open on I-20 near Brandon after a sinkhole shut down the interstate for a good portion of Sunday.
UPDATE: BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Department of Transportation officials say a separated pipe is to blame for the hole on I-20 Westbound. Crews hope to have the hole repaired and traffic back open by 5 p.m., Sunday.
**UPDATED AT 12:58 PM SUNDAY** – MDOT crews are on scene making emergency repairs to a sinkhole on I-20 Westbound near exit 56.
A spokesperson with the company says the highway should be able to open up the Westbound lane, to one lane traffic within the next 3 hours.
There is still no word on what caused the sinkhole to form.
BRANDON, Miss. – Brandon city officials are redirecting traffic away from a sinkhole.
The sinkhole is on the side of Interstate 20 in Brandon.
Officials say at this time I-20 westbound traffic is being redirected onto Highway 80 at exit 59.
According to The Mississippi Department of Transportation, crews are now assessing the the shoulder slide in the median of the interstate.
