WJTV – After not getting the starting quarterback job or much playing time at Mississippi State, redshirt freshman quarterback Nick Tiano is heading back to his home state.
After announcing his plans to transfer on Nov. 30, the Tennessee native tweeted on Monday that he is planning to go back to his hometown and transfer to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The redshirt freshman appeared in five games during the 2016 season, but attempted and completed just one pass for five yards. According to 247Sports, the Chattanooga native was a three-star recruit coming out of high school.
Tiano is the third quarterback to leave the program this year. Elijah Staley transferred to Tyler Junior College in August and junior Damian Williams announced on Instagram before the Egg Bowl that the game would be his last at Mississippi State.
This would leave Nick Fitzgerald as the only scholarship quarterback for the Bulldogs. Wyatt Roberts, a former quarterback at East Mississippi Community College, is also on the roster.
