JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant has issued an executive order to create a task force that he says will combat drug abuse.
Executive Order 1388 was signed Tuesday.
The Opioid and Heroin Study Task Force will make recommendations to the Governor of how to best fit drug abuse and prevent it in the future.
The executive order that Bryant signed states that Mississippi is one of the leader prescribers of opioids and that Mississippians are at greater risk for substance abuse.
Byrant will appoint members and a chair to the task force.
