MDE schedules hearing for Greenville teacher who dragged student by hair

GREENVILLE, Miss. (WJTV) — The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) said a hearing had been scheduled for the Greenville teacher who dragged a student by her hair.

The Commission on Teacher and Administrator Education, Certification and Licensure and Development will hear the case of Linda Winters Johnson on Wednesday.

The hearing will be held at the Mississippi State Capitol at 9 a.m.

Johnson was caught on camera dragging a student by the hair across the gym floor at Weston High School. MDE charged her with violating the Mississippi Educator Code of Ethics for physically mistreating a student.

They said her actions are grounds for suspension or revocation of her teaching license. Almost two weeks after the video surfaced, it was reported that Johnson was terminated from her job.
